In our attempt to mirror Patrick's beliefs we have been fortunate to partner with Clark County schools and the Greater Las Vegas After School All-Stars Program to provide over 2,200 new bicycles/ helmets and 10 college scholarships so far through the support of PK Bike Day. Each year PK Bike Day is held at the end of March where we donate 300 bicycles and helmets to Las Vegas youth. To date this is PKYF's largest fundraising event and we welcome all supporters and volunteers to attend!
Sports play an important role in the lives of most US children and young adults keeping kids healthier physically and mentally. PKYF makes annual donations to five non-profit sports teams providing funding for travel expenses, team uniforms and to help the high school youth gain college exposure. We feel that through sports, youth can learn lifelong lessons on personal values, teamwork, and communication. Studies show that sports also lead to increased academic success and higher attendance rates for college.
Please help us support our local teams with our goal to raise $5,000 for 2017.
Many families struggle to put food on their tables throughout the year and are often unable to afford a special holiday meal. Each year, in partnership with Piero's, PKYF supports their annual Turkey Gobble providing complimentary gourmet Thanksgiving dinners for over 1,300 underprivileged children and families. PKYF is one of the selected nonprofit organizations, including After-School All-Stars Las Vegas, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada and The Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada. We encourage families to volunteer for the event and do accept donations throughout the year.
The Foundation sponsors The Patrick Kelley Scholarship Program to ensure that deserving young adults have an avenue to pursue their academic, social, and personal dreams. To date, we have donated over $250,000 in college scholarships to deserving, first generation students. In addition to the scholarships, these individuals are provided with mentoring support, occupational training, and lifelong networking opportunities.
Our scholarship recipients are asked to meet at least a 3.0 GPA, participate in extracurricular activities, and volunteer their time and service to their local communities.
Las Vegas has been partnered with the Patrick Kelley Youth Foundation for 11 years now. ASAS provides disadvantaged Las Vegas youth the support to help them achieve their goals in school and in life through free comprehensive after-school programs that focus on three pillars: Academics, Enrichment, and Health & Fitness. Their mission is to provide at-risk youth the opportunity to participate in sports, educational, cultural and community enrichment programs; to build confidence and self-esteem; to encourage youth to say ‘no’ to gangs, drugs, and violence, and say ‘yes’ to hope, learning and life.
The Foundation started the annual PK Holiday Angels Event at Piero's in 2012 to help some of the many families that experience hard times during the holiday season. Each year, our team of supporters and volunteers involve their families of all ages to help provide meals, gift-wrapping services, and funding support to those in need. PKYF partners with After-School All-Stars Las Vegas in adopting 10 families and providing them gifts and food to celebrate the holiday season. Thanks to our donors and sponsors of the event, we've returned hope into the lives of so many families year after year.
